Hello! My name's Jordan and I am a passionate wedding photographer and storyteller based in Great Dunmow, Essex for Capture House Weddings.
Let's start at the beginning.
Ever since I was little I have always been massively into the art of storytelling whether that be through music, films or photography. I would sit in my room for hours listening to all genres of music or steal the family camera and take photos.
As I grew so did my passion for storytelling. I learnt guitar and started writing my own songs, I taught myself how to create videos with friends and of course - I grew as a photographer. One thing remained consistent throughout... I loved capturing people.
Fast forward to my first ever wedding in 2013.
My first ever wedding photography job was a travellers wedding in Essex. If shooting your first wedding isn't nerve wrecking enough, I had to control around 200 travellers and then sit with the couple in their caravan after the wedding and go through every single picture with them, one by one.
I learnt a lot during this process. Firstly, I gained a lot of respect for the traveller community. Yes it was a boisterous experience but not only did I feel safe, I felt respected. I got paid, I got fed and I was treated like one of their own. Secondly, if I can shoot a travellers wedding, I could shoot any wedding. This gave me the confidence I needed to develop and grow as a wedding photographer.
This new found confidence was great but I still didn't really know what I was doing. I needed to learn the ropes. I was given the opportunity to shadow Tom Halliday Photography for a week and it was an incredible experience.
Tom is a brilliant human being and a phenomenal wedding photographer. In this week I learnt how to run a wedding business and get the most from my couples and camera. I've always seen this week as a major turning point in my wedding photography life and I owe a lot to Tom for being where I am today.
I used this new knowledge to start my own creative agency and now work with some of the largest brands in the world including Red Bull, Unilever, Silverstone Circuit, and STHIL etc. but still remained a strong lover of wedding photography.
Why not ditch weddings and just work with these mega brands? The answer is quite simple, I prefer weddings.
Weddings are much more sentimental to me and you actually get to build relationships with every couple. Not only that, I'm a storyteller at heart and what better story is there to tell than capturing what is meant to be the best day of your life? There isn't.
I'm always looking to grow as a wedding photographer, second shooting for other wedding photographers based in Essex and increasing my skill. It's always interesting to see how other people work and find out how they make clients tick.
This is obviously a super-short version of my story but if you're getting married and want to find out more about how I work and make you feel comfortable on your day, send us an email and we'll go and grab a coffee (or something stronger).
